Try 8 Hours of Crackling Vinyl Background Noise

People love the crackle-and-hiss of vinyl records, but usually it’s alongside actual music.  But what about isolating the crackle-and-hiss as its own background, instead of the typical white noise of falling rain, waves crashing, or birds chirping?

There are a number of vinyl soundscapes designed with just this in mind.  Signal processing engineer Stéphane Pigeon has recently developed a customizable background track of vinyl white noise that allows for individualized adjustments of the needle, scratch, and hiss.  Pigeon’s ‘Dust ‘n Scratches Vinyl Crackle Background Noise Generator‘ is the perfect drone-out, and can also be added to any digital recording for that vintage effect, even if it isn’t pressed to actual vinyl.

Here’s another vinyl soundscape to consider, from Ascerting Art, who compiled 8 hours of vintage white noise to amplify concentration, relaxation, and overall nostalgia.
