Digital music marketing platform Show.co has added the ability to collect email addresses in exchange for a track download. This is feature seems so basic that I’m surprised they didn’t offer it before.

Why does this even matter? Well, Show.co believes that their tool is better.

In addition to sending an email with the track download, Show.co will include a custom call to action.

For example, you could tell fans to check out your website or follow you on Twitter.<!–/*

 var m3_r = Math.floor(Math.random()*99999999999);
 if (!document.MAX_used) document.MAX_used = ',';
 document.write ("”);
// ]]>You can also include a remarketing tag in the email, so you can target potential fans with advertisements.

For $5 you can collect up to 100 email addresses. Each email address costs $0.05 to collect. So what happens if you collect more addresses than you paid for? Show.co will continue to run your email campaign for seven days, and you can pay to access the extra emails you collected later.

Polydor France, ADA, Believe Digital, and RED Associated Labels are already using the feature.

A couple months ago Show.co added the ability to gate content in exchange for a Spotify follow. The platform is run by the people behind Soundrop, a now-closed social music service.
